Dashers Fall to Wolves in Shootout, 4-3
By Easton Hoskins
After taking the lead, midway through the third period, the Wolves' Kyle Powell scored with 32 seconds to go in the third period, to tie it, and Jason Dolgy would go on to score the only goal in the shootout, to take the win. On his shootout attempt, Dolgy made a hard fake to his backhand, good enough to freeze Danville goalie Louie George, then shot it by George's glove side, to give Watertown the 4-3 win.
Watertown took a two goal lead early in the game, on goals by Powell and Blasek. Watertown would lead up until late in the second period, when Danville would tie the game by scoring two goals in less than a minute. Justin Brausen buried a slap shot, with an assist from Brian Soskin on the first one, and the second came from Daniel Turgeon taking advantage of a lazy defensive play by the Wolves.
Brad Denny would score and give the Dashers the lead, midway through the third period, off a slap shot from the point, that got over the shoulder of Wolves goalie Danila Alistratov. However, they would fall in the shootout, as mentioned earlier. Alistratov made 46 saves, on 49 shots, and shut the Dashers out in the shootout. Danville and Watertown will play once again tomorrow, closing out the regular season.
