Titans Take Down Wolves

By Jay Harris Coach

Watertown, NY - Phil Esposito faced his former team at the Watertown Municipal Arena Saturday night when the Danbury Titans visited the Wolves.

The first goal went to Danbury when Michael Dolman scored on assists from Justin Apcar-Blaszak and Dean Yukura.   The Titans would extend that lead the following minute when a pass from Steve Brown set a goal up for Alexander Taulien. Ryan Connolly and former Wolf Junior Harris would earn back to back penalties to give the Wolves a 5-on-3 power play. Jeremy Akeson seized the opportunity and scored the Wolves' first goal of the night on assists from Michael Beranek and Brett Liscomb. New Wolf Mark Petaccio would tie the game up on assists from Matt Caranci and Michael Beranek. Watertown Goalie Ed Zdolshek and Danbury's Nick Niedert stepped up their game the rest of the period stopping any shots coming their way. Their efforts would leave the score tied at 2 at the end of period.

Brian Marks's delay of game penalty set the Titans up to take the lead when Taylor Bourne and Steve Brown get the puck to Dean Yakura making the score 3-2. Mark Petaccio looked to have a goal to bring the game back to a tie, but it was called off by the officials. Danbury would fall victim to a similar call when a shot from the Titans was declared a no goal because the Wolves net came off the mounting before the puck crossed the goal line. Alexander Taulien would extend the Titans lead when he chipped the puck in with help from Matt Coleman and Alex Johnson. The Wolves' effort would fall short in the second period, as it ended in a 4-2 lead for the Titans.

The lone goal of the third period came from Ryan Connolly of the Titans, with assists from Justin Apcar-Blaszak and Stephen Gallo. Danbury avenged their at-home loss to the Wolves last weekend with a final score of 5-2. The three stars of the game were Alexander Taulien, Steve Brown, and Jeremy Akeson.

The Wolves will be back in the Watertown Municipal Arena on Friday, December 2nd against the Cornwall Nationals with a 7:30 start time.
