Watertown Wolves add size and grit to the blue line through Delaware dispersal draft
The Wolves had a chance to add some toughness and grit to the blue line by adding three defenseman to Watertown this afternoon at the dispersal draft from Delaware Thunder as they will be going into hiatus for the year. Coach Clarke - “Great day today bringing in 3 good players for the upcoming season”. Team owner Andreas Johansson stated that they went into this draft with 3 picks and a goal in mind of the players they wanted to target. With the additions of these players, they will be sure to help the Wolves make a run at their 3rd championship this year.
With their 1st round pick the Wolves scooped up tough guy in Alex Basey. Coach Clarke - “Excited to have Alex Basey back playing for me as he is a real asset to the team and can police the blue line. Had him in Danville his first year. I’m sure fans will be excited to see the style of hockey he brings to Watertown”. Alex had a short stint in Watertown back in the 2017/2018 season and now makes his return back to Watertown. He will be sure to keep the fans on the edge of their seat with anticipation night in and night out. Alex Basey - “Awesome crowd to play in front of, can’t wait to put on the blue and white this year”’.
With our 2nd round pick, we would like to welcome a defenseman from Delaware, Jacob “The Great Dane” Boll . “I am excited to play in front a fan base that is as dedicated as the wolves fan base”. With his style of play he will sure to be a fan favorite as soon as he hits the ice or should I say the opposing team hits the ice. Jacob is a big defenseman at 6’5” and the desire to put players into the boards. Owner Andreas Johansson - “A player of his physical style and pedigree doesn’t come around everyday and we are very pleased to have him on our side”.
And with their 3rd pick, we have acquired a familiar face from the Delaware Thunder in Bryce Litke. A stay at home defenseman who enjoyed part of the season in Watertown in the 2019/2020 season. This fan favorite makes his return to Watertown. Bryce Litke - “I’m very excited to head back to Watertown this season. The fans were great and I really enjoyed my time there.” With his size and grit, standing at 6’2”, it will be an added size that any team would want.
In other news, the Watertown Wolves also made a trade with Port Huron Prowlers. The trade sent Wolves Forward Joe Deveny to the Prowlers for Goalie Anthony Pupplo. Anthony is a goalie who we find plays with a style much like Carey Price of the Montreal Canadians. He has a tremendous ability to read the game and seems to always stay composed when in or out of the crease. Nice size for a goaltender at 6’0” with quick reflexes and ability to cover the net. We would also like to send our well wishes with Joe Deveny and wish him luck as he continues his journey with the Port Huron Prowlers.
