Wily Wolves Defeat Dashers

Watertown, NY - The Watertown Wolves hosted the Danville Dashers at the Watertown Municipal Arena on Saturday night. The 2nd place Wolves led by Head Coach Trevor Karasiewicz looked to close in on the 1st place team in Federal Hockey League standings with a win.

Gavin Yates got Watertown off to an early lead with a goal just twenty-four seconds into the period on a play from Nicola Levesque and CJ Hayes. Levesque also helped Hayes score a goal of his via a pass from Aleh Shypitsyn to make the score 2-0 Watertown at the end of the first period.

The Dashers started to shop in the last half of the second period. Michael Dolman scored his first of two goals on assists from Brandon Yeamans and Dustin Henning. Nicola Levesque restored Watertown's two goal lead with the help of Gavin Yates and Alex D'Oliveira. Dolman's second goal of the period came with just half a second left, to end the period with a 3-2 score.

The Wolves kept the goals coming in the third period. Justin Brausen's tripping penalty led to a successful power play at the hands of Kyle Powell, Anton Lennartsson, and Tyler Gjurich. Gjurich scored a short-handed goal with the help of John Scully and Aleh Shypitsyn during Justin Coachman's interference penalty. Danville pulled Matt Kaludis out of the net for an extra attacker, resulting in Troy Polino and Dallas Ingram getting the puck to John Scully for an empty net goal. Anton Lennartsson put the final nail in the Dashers' coffin on a play from Jesse Facchini and Lester Brown to end the night with a 7-2 victory.

Nicola Levesque earned the 1st Star of the Game for his goal and two assists. Aleh Shypitsyn's two assists and strong defense earned him the 2nd Star. Gavin Yates was credited with the 3rd Star for his goal and assist.

The Watertown Wolves are back in action at the Watertown Municipal Arena on Friday, March 9th at 7:30 PM against the North Shore Knights.
