Wolves Claim Victory Over Ice Breakers

The Watertown Wolves got into the win column with a 3-1 victory over the Mentor Ice Breakers. The Wolves came into the game aggressive hoping to avenge their tight loss to Mentor the night previous.

Jeremey Pominville was back in the net after an impressive showing on Friday Night. The Wolves opened up the scoring in the first period on the power play with Tyler Gjurich sniping the puck over the pad of Mentor’s Roudebush.

The second period saw Deric Boudreau tip in a goal assisted by Lane King and Tyler Gjurich. The Wolves top line was looking to bounce back after a quite showing at the Wolves Home Opener. Pominville made a series of saves late in the second period to keep the game at 2-0.

The third period saw Mentors aggressive forecheck put pressure on the Wolves, but effective defensive zone coverage stimmed the Ice Breakers offense. Mentor’s Alexander Morrow tipped a high puck that snuck past Jeremey Pominville to give the Ice Breakers a glimmer of hope late into the third period.

Mentor’s late push was for not, as Tyler Gjurich flipped a soft backhand from the Wolves blue line that sailed into the Ice Breakers goal to seal the win for the Wolves. Bryce Litke recorded his first professional point on the Wolves empty net goal.

Jeremey Pominville was the Fuccillo Subaru Hot Performance of the Night Winner.

The Wolves are back in action this coming Friday against the Port Huron Prowlers at 7:30 pm.
