Wolves Fall in First Match Against Defending Champion Prowlers

Watertown, NY - The Port Huron Prowlers made their first appearance to the Watertown Municipal Ice Arena as they faced the Watertown Wolves. Their inaugural visit brought back former Watertown Wolves Chad Bennett, Stanislav Vlasov, Jo St. Pierre, and Junior Harris. The first period would see a lot of physicality from both teams, with the Wolves and Prowlers racking up 7 and 13 minutes in penalties respectively. Kristaps Nimanis would take a doozey of a shot to tickle the twines with assists from Chad Bennett and Matt Robertson with just 90 seconds left in the period.
The Prowlers would head to the locker rooms with a 1-0 lead at the end of the period. The Prowlers would continue to rack up goals in the second period. Nimanis scored his second goal of the night by lobbing the puck over Ed Zdolshek's glove just over six minutes into the period. Less than a minute later Zach Tatrn and Edgars Ozolins would assist Alexander Lewis in extending the lead to 3-0. Tatrn would turn around and score his own goal on assists Matt Robertson and Ahmed Mahfouz. Tension continued to rise among the teams as second altercation took place between Watertown's Brian Marks and Port Huron's Jean-Christophe Houde. The end of the period was capped off with a skirmish between Edgars Ozolins and Shane Halaas after the period's final whistle.
The Wolves continued their efforts to close the gap in the third period, but were not able to get the shots to go their way. The Prowlers' Jo St. Pierre would shut out the Wolves leading his team to a 4-0 win. The Three Stars of the game were Jo St. Pierre, Kristaps Nimanis, and Ahmed Mahfouz. The Wolves will host the Cornwall Nationals on November 18th at the Watertown Municipal Ice Arena. The puck drops at 7:30.
